Safety challenging processes

The production and filling of radioactive materials is a challenging process in terms of safety, and is often carried out manually, especially in the filling area. cts developed and built an innovative plant for the automatic processing and filling of radioactive materials. The separation and filling of the radioactive isotopes take place fully automatically under lead and tungsten shielding.

How does the plant work?

In the first step, the irradiated ampoules are opened in a metal-free breaker unit. The ingredients are then dissolved in acids. A 3-step high-pressure chromatography process is used to separate the resulting isotopes. The respective patient dose, incl. Consideration of the decay constants, is filled fully automatically. GMP-compliant data handling of patient information is a matter of course.

The core functions at a glance:

  • Metal-free crushing unit for glass ampoules
  • Filling of up to 100 vials/h
  • Dosing accuracy of ± 0.5 mg
  • Metal-free evaporation unit
  • Fully automatic process

The advantages summarized:

  • Safe robot movement possible in confined spaces
  • Complete traceability
  • High precision handling and filling
